iScan radio-TLC/MCA System

The iScan is an automated and fully-programmable combination radio-TLC scanner and Multi-Channel Analyzer (MCA) system…designed for radiochemical purity control
Bioscan’s iScan identifies radioactive components in reaction mixtures …providing for quality control of the production, compounding, and dispensing of radio-pharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine applications
iScan’s radio-TLC scanner:
For Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC), the iScan uses a NaI detector to scan across a chromatography strip using predefined parameters. This detector provides excellent energy resolution and counting efficiency for gamma & PET isotopes. (The detector is mounted inside a lead housing with appropriate shielding.)
iScan’s MCA system:
The MCA can operate in two different data-acquisition modes:
- Pulse-Height Analysis (PHA). This mode is used to acquire the energy spectrum of the radiopharmaceutical.
- Multi-Channel Scaling (MCS). This mode is used to generate the actual chromatogram during the scan. The MCA can be set-up to acquire a maximum of 1024 channels. The dwell times may range from a few milliseconds to minutes. (The MCA acquisition parameters for both PHA and MCS modes can be set via the software.)
iScan’s advanced software:

A comprehensive software package is included…with method-driven measurements for ease-of-use and high reproducibility. All of the parameters that define a method--and the results of all measurements--are stored in a relational database. iScan also performs data-visualization and analysis of chromatogram spectra (MCS), and (if selected) the energy spectra (PHA). Quality Control (QC) charts (also known as trending charts) for the measured scans of a given method--using several qualifiers (Purity, Rf, Peak Area, Continuum Values, etc.) and date constrains--can be specified, as well. Data can also be easily exported to ASCII, CVS, XML files, or directly into MS Excel.
