Bioscan’s F18 system is designed to provide a flexible Chemistry System that uses disposable hardware kits to produce [18F] FDG and other fluorinated compounds, such as FLT, F-MISO, F-choline, Fallypride, etc.
The two modules together have 10 disposable 3-way valves and two reactors, which offer radiochemists a number of options for custom 18F chemistry development. And the F18-Plus’ flexible-flow configurations, additional valves, and other I/O ports--via an external transfer module--provide even greater flexibility for complex sequences.

A typical set-up is shown here, where the F18-Plus module performs the nucleophilic reaction, which is then collected on a 10mL HPLC injection loop mounted on a 6-port valve. The reaction mixture is then transferred to the ReFORM-Plus module, using an external HPLC pump, where formulation into a final injectable dose takes place. All the settings and functions of the HPLC interface are controlled by advanced F18-Plus software.
As an option, Bioscan offers a very compact HPLC pump and UV-Vis detector, which are used to isolate the desired product from the reaction mixture. And confirmation of the UV and radioactivity peaks is displayed via the F18-Plus software.
Synthesis can be run either in automatic mode--using a pre-determined method--or in manual mode, for complete control & step-checking. Furthermore, the F18-Plus software uses a spreadsheet-driven mechanism for programming the sequence & operation of the module…for easy method programming & troubleshooting.
