BioPET/CT In Vivo Preclinical Imager

Outstanding true-DOI (tDOI) Powered PET Performance

Leveraging state-of-the-art, phoswich detector technology, consisting of a dual layer of LYSO and GSO crystals with a combined thickness of 15mm, the BioPET/CT provides uncompromising resolution across the entire field of view and excellent stopping power.

BioPET/CT

BioPET/CT is a new PET platform that offers cutting-edge imaging performance at a price that accommodates today’s constrained funding environment.

Bioscan has brought the BioPET/CT to market as the front-end of a PET/CT/MR system that is currently under development. Available today in combination with a side-by-side 1.5 or 3T MR system, BioPET/CT will be upgradable to an in-line BioPET/MR/CT system that will enable you to use up to three fully complementary modalities simultaneously.

BioPET/CT provides great resolution and sensitivity per axial cm that makes it a great solution for in vivo imaging of small animals like mice and rats. As such, it provides a great complement to Bioscan’s flagship NanoPET/CT, which is optimized for translational PET imaging.

Bioscan has developed next-generation phoswich LYSO/GSO technology featuring highly reliable, fast readout electronics. The result is dramatically improved resolution and sensitivity versus single LYSO, LSO or GSO crystals as well as APD detectors.

With its thick, dual crystal layer, the BioPET/CT provides the highest sensitivity per axial cm in the industry, allowing the detection of even the smallest lesions and receptor sites for preclinical in vivo small animal imaging.  In addition, the BioPET/CT features high performance acquisition electronics enabling faster response times and uniform sensitivity with linear response to activity concentrations ranging from 0.01 μCi/cc to 10 μCi/cc.

BioPET/CT’s tDOI technology ensures that there is minimal degradation of resolution as you move away from the center of the imaging chamber. The parallax effect is mitigated using the information captured as gammas pass through the double crystal layers, enabling sub-millimeter resolution even at the edge of the FOV.

Moving beyond standard depth-of-interaction correction approaches, true-DOI quadruples the sampling information with four lines of response:  GSO-GSO, LYSO-LYSO, GSO-LYSO and LYSO-GSO all reconstructed using the BioPET/CT's ultra-fast 3D-OSEM algorithm.
